Taiko Tailored Workout with Emily
Join TCP with the 60 minute workouts led by Emily Harada. These exercises, that were featured on KaDON, were created to fulfill our community’s need to move our bodies in a way that mimics the physical aspect of playing taiko. Each workout incorporates a range of movements that mimic certain motions and engage muscle groups that are used in these four different taiko forms. A sample is shown below:
Emily has been playing taiko for over 20 years with Ho Etsu Taiko (Chicago), and served as a trainee with Taiko Center of the Pacific and Somei Taiko in Hawaii. With her experience as a licensed Athletic Trainer, she has incorporated functional taiko movements into at-home exercises to prevent injury and atrophy while our community awaits for a time when we can safely return to taiko-ing together!
Hatha Yoga Flow
A great way to de-stress with relaxing stretches after work in the comfort of your own home. Wear comfortable clothing and have a bottle of drinking water nearby. Workout will mostly be floor exercises.
Riki Aihara’s yoga journey began as a college freshmen when she became aware of the shifts in perspective and health benefits yoga could provide. The yogic practices of uniting the mind and body, observing our actions, and living with intention have allowed for much growth and peace in her life. Riki completed her 200 hour YTT in the mountains of Nepal in 2018. She focuses on the foundation of poses to allow beginners to have a safe and long-lasting practice. She hopes that students savor their practice and connection to self so they may use the tools cultivated in class in their daily lives.
