- Please be on time. Most classes are only 55 minutes.
- Please wear comfortable clothes.
- Please remove street shoes before entering the dojo.
- You can wear a tabi/indoor footwear in class. Barefeet is also acceptable.
- Earplugs are recommended for class participants and observers. (available for sale on the first day of class)
- No gum chewing, smoking, eating, or drinking (except water) in class.
- For safety reasons, please refrain from wearing jewelry adornment, except for religious or medical purposes.
- Bring taiko sticks (bachi) to class every week.
- Have respect for the art form, teacher (sensei), each other, the dojo (place we practice in), and the instruments.
- If you must miss a class, call a classmate and find out what took place.
- Class will begin with a traditional greeting (“yoroshiku onegai shimasu”) and bow.
- Class will end with a traditional parting (“arigatoo gozaimashita”) and bow.
- As must as possible, do warm-up exercises and stretching before AND after class.
- Students will be requested to help set up instruments (first class of the day) and put away instruments (last class of the day).
- Please refrain from unnecessary talking during class. Time for questions will be provided at the end of class.
- Students are free to audiotape record any part of the lesson however, DO NOT let the tape recording affect our concentration in class.
- No video taping without prior permission from the instructor.
- Relax, have fun, and be patient with yourself! It takes time and effort!
