The concert honors two of Kenny’s mentors: Barbara B Smith, esteemed ethnomusicologist who just celebrated her 100th birthday, and William P Malm, foremost academic expert of Japanese music who recently donated a set of Edo Bayashi instruments which will be showcased.
The concert also celebrates Kenny’s 45th anniversary of playing taiko.
SCEP Live Online concert series is a joint effort between the UH Mānoa Outreach College, UH Mānoa Music Department, the East-West Center Arts Program, and Friends of Manoa Library.
