Habilitat’s Christmas Tree Fundraiser 2017

TAC will once again be teaming up with Habilitat, for our annual Christmas tree fundraiser. We will be selling Christmas trees, from September to October, to raise money for educational & cultural programs. We need your help to make this fundraiser a success! Please share this wonderful opportunity with your family, friends and co-workers to ensure your family has a fresh Christmas tree or decoration for this coming holiday season!

Taiko Arts Center (TAC) is a 501(c)(3) federally approved tax-exempt non-profit organization that promotes the Japanese cultural art of taiko (Japanese drumming) and its related arts, locally, nationally, and internationally through education, support, preservation, collaboration, and innovation. Kenny Endo & Friends LIVE Performance in TOKYO!

Taiko Center of the Pacific’s Artistic Director, Kenny Endo, will perform at ”初秋” (Hatsu Aki), a special concert featuring Hiromitsu Agatsuma (Tsugaru shamisen), Kyosuke Suzuki (yokobue), Kiyohiko Senba (percussion/drum set), Kaori Takahashi (electric violin), and Hitoshi Hamada (vibraphone). ONE NIGHT ONLY at Jazz Club Someday in Shinjuku, Tokyo!

Summer Taiko Intensives – August 28-September 1

Our Summer Taiko Intensive series is fast approaching – 5 days of intensive study! A great way to learn a lot in a short amount of time. Register now!

This year, we are offering 6 different and exciting courses to choose from, featuring special guest instructors Kyosuke Suzuki from the Wakayama Shachu of Tokyo and Halla Huhm Foundation’s Mary-Jo Freshly (Korean changgo, hour-glass shaped drum), as well as TCP’s own Sean Shibata (Fukuoka) and Kenny Endo!

The 6 courses offered this summer are:

-Kagura Mai (shrine dance movement)
-Shimedaiko (Edobayashi Techniques for small rope-lashed drum)
-Yokobue (Japanese transverse bamboo flute)

An Evening of Edo Sato Kagura – Featuring Kyosuke Suzuki

Presented by Izumo Taishakyo Mission, East-West Center Arts Program and Taiko Center of the Pacific. Supported in part by the Japan Foundation Los Angeles Office and Taiko Arts Center.

An Evening of Edo Sato Kagura – Shrine Music & Dance of Old Tokyo

Visiting artist Kyosuke Suzuki is from the Wakayama Shachu of Tokyo, a group recognized as an intangible cultural property by the Japan Ministry of Culture. He is acknowledged by many around the world as the top lion dancer of the Edo tradition.

He will be performing his art for one night only at Izumo Taishakyo Mission in downtown Honolulu on Saturday, September 2 at 6pm.
